Done in a style similar to Director Derrick Lui’s previous award winning film “When Night Fa11s”, notions of identity find context in the themes of love, loneliness and alienation that pervade our protagonists. Tension between the past and present is linked to memory, desire, time, space and environment.
Working with a theme of isolation and dislocation with a striking visual aesthetic, it depicts the bizarre love story of Rain and Summer. Rain and Summer are different personalities and backgrounds. Rain is an orphan, while Summer’s loving father owns the flower shop in the hotel.
Through their eyes, 3 other stories are interweaved together. This film explores the notion of love between them, a married couple who constantly meet for a rendezvous, a middle aged man who insists on his prostitutes wearing something strange, and a poor foreign prostitute, who has dreams of settling down with ‘the right man’.
